A convict from Clinton was one of two men who was found missing Monday morning from the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center at Vinita.

With colder weather due in later this week, Custer County commissioners got some unwelcome news Monday. Three heating units in the Custer County Jail are out and need to be replaced immediately.

“We feel like with the purchasing laws, we need to bid them out,” said Commission Chairman Lyle Miller.

After reviewing statistics obtained by Sheriff Bruce Peoples from six other counties, Custer County commissioners appear to have decided that utility costs at the jail in Arapaho are not out of line.



Tonight’s Class 4A quarterfinal contest between Clinton and Wagoner will be one of three matching up teams from District 4A-1 versus District 4A-3.


After, by his own estimation, 41 years, one month and one week in the pulpit of the First Church of God, Roy Dobbs told his Church Council and congregation Sunday that he is retiring.
