During the many years Fred W. “Happy” Braffett served as secretary of the Custer County Election Board, the county was heavily Democratic. And Happy used his influence to make sure it stayed that way as long as he was secretary. But he had one notable failure.

Racquetball fans, who’ve suffered with periodic flooding of the underground portion of the city’s facility at Acme Brick Park almost since its opening in 2003, may have new hope.

Three Clinton High School seniors have been chosen for valedictorian this year, and two for salutatorian.

The students who reached valedictorian status were Bryce Wolters, Kaylee Oyler and Tram To. Salutatorians are Megan Hatter and Conley Adams.

Funeral services for Joey Lee, 37, Clinton resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
He died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, in Oklahoma City.

Memorial services for Jesse V. Hayes, 82, of Zellwood, Fla., formerly from Clinton, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kiesau-Lee Memorial Chapel.
Hayes died Aug. 12, 2015.

Nancy Lucas

Funeral services for Nancy Lucas, 44, Butler resident, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at the Butler Baptist Church.
She died Aug. 25, 2015, in her Butler home.

Bradley Lee Peek

Funeral services for Bradley Lee Peek, 43, of Cordell, have been set for Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Kiesau-Lee Chapel in Clinton.
He died Aug. 24, 2015, In Amarillo, Texas.
