Funeral services will be held for Lola Day, 90, of Clinton at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Arapaho.
She died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019.
Day was born May 14, 1929, to Bernie Lee Newton and Edith Pearl (Williams) Newton in Donna, Hidalgo County, Texas. When she was 1 year old the family moved to Leedey, where she grew up and attended school and graduated as valedictorian of her 1947 class.
After graduation she attended Hills Business University in Oklahoma City, and then went to work at William Volker Company in Oklahoma City.
She worked there until returning to Leedey to marry her high school sweetheart, Edward (Eddie) L. Day.
In 1957 they moved to Clinton, where Day was employed at Clinton Production Credit Association for 34 ½ years until she took an early retirement.
She and her husband loved to travel and visited 49 states as well as Canada and Mexico. They also went on a missionary trip to the island of Trinidad with the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
During their retirement, Day and her husband volunteered at the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge at Yama, Ariz., for four years, and spent 23 summers working at the Fun Valley Family Resort in South Fork, Colo., where they made many friends.
Day was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Chuck; her parents; two sisters, Lucille Walton and Maxine Beach; a sister-in-Law, Betty Day; and three brothers-in-law, Charles Day, Bob Day and Don Day.
Survivors include a grandson, Dirk Day of the home; a sister-in law, Sarah Day; and a wonderful group of nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
The service will be officiated by Don Day and Dan Day. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
