Funeral Services for Elizabeth “Bettye” Hinz, 93, Clinton resident, will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the First Mennonite Church, officiated by Pastor Daniel Mosburg. Private family burial will conclude in the Bergthal Cemetery near Corn, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Virginia “Bettye” (Adams) Hinz was born January 7, 1926 to Lester and Marie (Krause) in Denver, CO and passed away early Friday, December 13, 2019 in the Angelwood Assisted Living Center in Clinton, OK.
Bettye started her young life and school in Baltimore, MD; when she was about nine years old the family moved to Corn OK and she attended Corn schools and graduated from Corn High School in 1944.
She was soon married to John Paul Hinz in May 1944. They made their homes in the Corn and Clinton communities. They spent many years together farming and ranching.
She has been a resident of the Angelwood Assisted Living Center in Clinton for the past year.
Bettye was a longtime faithful and active member of the First Mennonite Church; she was involved many years with the Et Cetera Shop Thrift Shop; she spent numerous hours volunteering at the Integris Hospital; she was a member of the quilting group, she was an artist and loved to paint and draw and to calligraphy; she was an accomplished seamstress; in later life she loved to play internet games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1990, and daughter, Carolyn Lewis, in 2006.
She is survived by a son, Joe Bill Hinz and his wife, Karen, Clinton, sister, Esther Ramona Remy, San Diego, CA, and brother, Dr. Jerome Adams and wife, Irene, Burkburnett, TX.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, Dawn Adams, Andy Hinz, and Doug Chabino, Melissa Lewis and Jimmy Lewis and nine great-grandchildren.
