Allison Joy “Al” Carter, 84, died Thursday, June 6, 2019, at his home in Clinton surrounded by loved ones.

Carter was born Nov. 28, 1934, in Custer City to Joy Carter of Ada and the former Louise Frazier of Stafford. He was an only child.

He attended Custer City schools until moving to Clinton at age 12. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1952.

Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked as a radio technician until separating in 1966. His time in service included tours in both Korea and Vietnam.

After his military service, Al returned to Clinton and was employed with Aden’s TV and Repair where he had worked while in high school.

In 1979 he started with the 3M Company at Weatherford and worked there until his retirement in 1994.

While at 3M he met the former Charlene Beck of Eakly who was also employed there, and they married in 1988.

Al was an avid fisherman, a skilled electronics repairman, and a stained glass artist. He enjoyed flying RC airplanes (radio controlled) as well as restoring classic automobiles and antique pianos.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene, of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Jack and husband Jeff of Clinton, and Teresa Walker of Yukon; one step-son, Mike Frederick of Hermon, Maine; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Carter was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Joeta Richardson Carter, in 1969.
