Graveside service for Donnie Lee Klaassen, 83 year-old Clinton resident, will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford. Burial is under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Donnie Lee Klaassen was born June 10, 1937 in Corn, OK to Jacob Dewey and Sara (Thiessen) Klaassen and passed away September 3, 2021 at Clinton Therapy and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, OK at the age of 84 years. He attended school in Corn, OK until he and his family moved to Clinton where he graduated from Clinton High School in 1956.
After graduation, Donnie served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962 and was honorably discharged.
On June 9, 1968, he married the love of his life Janice Bergner. They were married 48 years and made their home in Clinton, Ok.
Donnie was a former employee at Kellwood Company, Clinton Veterans Center and Clinton Public Schools.
Donnie moved to Angelwood Assisted Living in 2017. While there he enjoyed playing bingo, attending church devotionals, listening to music, family night, field trips, and mostly spending time with his family. He moved to Clinton Therapy and Rehab. Center in 2018 where he was a resident at the time of his death. Donnie enjoyed interacting with the residents and staff members. He had a humorous personality and loved socializing. It didn’t matter where he was, he never met a stranger.
Donnie is survived by his sister, Nora Klaassen Mansfield of Amarillo, TX; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Bergner of Weatherford, OK, and Barbara Klaassen of Lawton, OK; one brother-in-law Carol Gaunt of Weatherford, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; parents, Jacob and Sara Klaassen; two brothers Elmer and Archie Klaassen; and one sister, Doris (Klaassen) Patterson.
