Angelette “Angel” Renee Leonard, 52, passed away May 19, 2022, at Saint Joseph Medical Center after a short illness. She was born November 16, 1969 in Cordell, OK to Marguerita L. (Banwart) Tutwiler and James H. Lundy.
Angel graduated from Custer City High School with honors and completed a bachelor degree at Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO. She worked and served the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully for many years in both children’s Christian education and deaf ministry. In May 1996 she was married to Ronnie Dale Leonard in Joplin, MO and together they later moved to Kansas City, MO where they raised their family. She continued to volunteer in children’s and deaf ministry with Southview Christian Church until her passing.
Angelette lived life with gusto: part Wonder Woman (Linda Carter) and part Charlie’s Angel “Kelly” (Jaclyn Smith); part Sound of Music and part ABBA’s “Mama Mia!” soundtrack; and the #1 Scooby Doo fan of all time. She could often be found yelling at the characters on her favorite movies and TV shows to set them straight, or loudly scolding her Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks for messing up a play. Angel never tired talking of the antics she and her gang of friends (Patti Graves, Stephanie Graham, Lisa Johnson, Alyssa Wilson) got up to in college.
She was preceded in death by her father, but continues to be remembered in the love of her mother, stepfather Thomas Tutweiler, stepmother Delores Lundy, and her husband and their four children, Travis Edward Albin Leonard, Derrekk Cheyenne Leonard, Ashlee Aariona Leonard, and Nicolle Quionna Leonard. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Tonto and favorite ducks of the flock, Rowena and Precious.
A memorial service for Angelette will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Southview Christian Church, 13604 Norby Road, Grandview, Missouri. While flowers are appreciated, Angelette would rather have encouraged gifts be made to support Show-Mee Christian Youth Home, La Monte, MO.
