Funeral services will be held for James Adams, 70, of Clinton at 10 a.m. Friday in the First Mennonite Church.
He died Sunday, April 21, 2019, in his Clinton home. James “Jimmy” Adams was born Oct. 27, 1948, to Steven and Bessie (Morales) Adams at Corn Bread Corner near Colony. He was raised and attended school in Cowden and Colony, graduating in 1967.
Adams was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968, and in 1969 served a year in Vietnam. After receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Colony.
On Jan. 8, 1972, he married Bonita Mauldin. On May 16, 1986, he married Deborah Story, who preceded him in death. He then married Margaret (Harms) Schultz on Oct. 29, 2005.
Adams began working as a farm laborer when he was 15 years old, and at Eakly Coop. He later worked in the oilfield for several years before starting a Bar-S Foods in 1989, where he retired after 24 years.
He was a member of the First Mennonite Church.
Adams was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Freddie and wife Pat, Art and wife Claudette, Eldon and wife Mary, and Frank and wife Betty; two sisters, Ester Garcia and husband Manuel, and Margaret Toni and husband Gene; two brothers-in-law, Goldie Schultz and Roger McElroy; his father-and mother-in-law, Ogen and Pauline Harms; a sister-in-law, Linda Martin; and a step-granddaughter, Jessica Schultz.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Michael Shane Adams, Jimmie Adams, Justin Adams and Jeremy Schultz; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by three brothers, Marshall “CD,” Steve “JR,” and Albert Ochoa and wife Glenda; a sister, Mary Ruth Schultz and Faye; a brother-in-law, Tony Martin; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The service will be officiated by Emil Schmidt, Daniel Mos-burg and Dave Gerbrandt. Burial will follow at Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau- Lee Funeral Home.
