Donald W. Schmidt, a resident of Clinton, Oklahoma, departed this life on November 15, 2024, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on August 1, 1951, in Fort Cobb, OK, to Waldo J. and Leola Bernice (Jantz) Schmidt.

Donald had a passion for creativity.

He was often found engrossed in assembling model cars and planes—a testament to his meticulous nature and imaginative spirit. He relished the simplicity of mowing his yard on his riding lawn mower, turning an everyday task into a moment of pride.

Donald had a deep love for fishing, often enjoying the serene waters accompanied by family, where laughter and stories were shared. His grand-chil-dren were the light of his life; he treasured each opportunity to spend time with them, creating cherished memories that they will hold close forever. Music filled his home, and war movies captivated his evenings, each scene evoking stories of courage and history.

He spent most of his life working for ONG/ONEOK, from age 18 until retirement in 2005. After retirement, he went to work for Lucky Star Casino. He was known for his lively presence at the casino, where he gathered his own crew for days filled with fun and camaraderie.

Donald is lovingly remembered by his son, Michael McKeaigg, and his wife Abby, both of Missouri; his daughter, Melissa Schmidt and her husband Jason Rogers, of Clinton; his brothers, Ron Schmidt of Helena, OK and Jim Schmidt of Carmen, OK; and his sister, Linda Ferrell and her husband Monty, of Cherokee, OK. He was a proud grandfather to Braiden Schmidt, Dean Rogers, Trinity Rogers, Mason Rogers, Kaylynn McKeaigg, Marcus Mendoza, and Julianna Mendoza; and the mother of his children, Deborah Duncan, of Cordell, OK. He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Waldo and Leola Schmidt.

Donald’s life was full of kindness and the joy he brought to those around him.

His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
