Private graveside services for Wenonah Shaw, 103, formerly of the Putnam area and Bethany, OK, were held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas, OK and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Ada Wenonah Shaw was born August 21, 1916 to Harry Walter McCoy and Pearl (Westover) McCoy in Putnam, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 in the Methodist Retirement Home in Clinton, OK.
Wenonah was raised in Putnam and attended Independence School graduating in 1935. She moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker Air Force Base during WWII. She later had a longtime career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Company. She spent several years living in the Oklahoma City and Bethany area before moving to Clinton to be close to family. She has most recently been a resident of the Angelwood and Methodist Retirement Center since September 2019.
She is a member of the St. Marks Methodist Church in Bethany; she loved little children, crocheting, and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Arlo McCoy and nephew, Randy McCoy.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Betty Rhea Thompson and Ron Stephenson, Butler, OK, Sue Morgan, Bethany, OK, Arleen Shockey and Harry Welch, Dill City, OK, Brad and J.J. Thompson and family, all of Clinton, and Trent Thompson and wife, Tiffany and family, all of Bessie, OK.
