Funeral services will be held for long-time Custer County resident Goldie Kenney, 105, at 2 p.m. today in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
Kenney died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Angel-wood Assisted Living in Clinton.
She was born Jan. 23, 1914, to Ed and Effie Young in Higgins, Texas. The family moved to the Foss area when she was still a small child and she attended school in Foss.
In 1934 she married Jim Kenney, and they established a home in the area now occupied by Foss Lake. When the dam was built across their homestead, they relocated to Stafford for a short time before making a permanent home in Clinton.
Kenney and her husband continued to farm and ranch in Custer County. For many years she also owned and operated Goldie’s Drive-In in Burns Flat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings.
Survivors include a son, Max Kenney and wife Tricia of Clinton; and a daughter, Janice Dew and husband Gene of Duncanville, Texas.
She is also survived by four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
