Alma S. Friesen, age 84, was received in her Savior’s arms on Sunday, May 17, 2020. Alma was born on December 24, 1935 to John and Sara Doerksen on a farm in Meade, Kansas where she was raised with her five siblings.
Alma met Ray Friesen on a blind date, and they were married months later on June 22, 1958. They were married for 55 wonderful years, and they were blessed with three sons and one daughter.
Ray and Alma helped found two churches in Edmond, Oklahoma and were both active in their church until their passing. They loved to travel, spend time at the lake, and Alma enjoyed cooking and hosting for their family. Alma also enjoyed contesting, jigsaw puzzles, strong black coffee, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.
After Ray’s passing in 2013, Alma remarried Raymond (Lou) Weaver in 2018 and they cherished each other’s company for two fulfilling years. Alma and Lou also enjoyed traveling and spending time with both of their families.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Sara Doerksen, three sisters, Lena Doerksen, Liz Klassen, and Ann Friesen, her first husband, Ray Friesen, and one grandson, Brandon Barfield. She is survived by three sons and their wives, Alvin and Kristin Friesen of Guthrie, OK, James and Kris Friesen of Edmond, OK, and David and Pam Friesen of Yukon, OK; one daughter and her husband, Joyce and David Barfield of Oklahoma City, OK; and nine grandchildren, Misti and Brandon Draper, Ryan and Jessica Friesen, Ben and Caitlin Friesen, Bridgette Heinrichs, Sarah and Ali Dablemont, Chad and Christina Friesen, Jacob and Alyssa Friesen, Breann and Jesse Johnson, and Jennifer Friesen.
She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Ellie Draper, Wyatt Draper, Raelynn Friesen, Emma Dablemont, Samuel Friesen, Jade Friesen, Ezekiel Dablemont, Piper Friesen, and Vivian Dablemont; one sister, Sarah Peters; one brother, Pete Doerksen; and her second husband, Lou Weaver.

Viewing will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond. Private family services will be held at Memorial Park.
