The celebration of life service for Sharon Gayle (Lucas) May, 85 year-old Hydro resident, will be held at the First Baptist Church in Hydro, Oklahoma on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10:00 A M. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Sharon was born on July 30, 1934, and passed away on May 21, 2020, at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sharon was the daughter of Everett Lucas and Gladys (Springer) Lucas. She was born in Cordell, Oklahoma, and graduated from Clinton High School with the Class of Fifty-Two. She attended Southwestern State College.
In 1953, Sharon, a city girl, married a farm boy named Joe May. They began their life living in a shack in the middle of a pasture 21 miles northwest of Clinton. In 1955, she and Joe moved to their farm near Hydro, living there for 40 years until they moved to town for the remainder of her life.
Sharon had two daughters, Jamie Lynn and Julie Beth. She was later blessed with five grandchildren and two greatgrandsons.
Sharon worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Slim Boyd Chevrolet and Hydro Public Schools. She was clerk for the Town of Hydro for nineteen years. After her retirement, she worked part-time at the Main Street Clothing Company.
Sharon will be remembered for her beautiful smile, uplifting laugh and listening ear. She enjoyed her patio, singing in community cantatas, being with family and friends, taking road trips, and shopping. She was blessed by many close friends and family who feel blessed to have had her in their lives.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Joe May; two daughters, Jamie Brehm and husband Jackie of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Julie North and husband Joe of Golden, Colorado; grandchildren Kylie North and Laura Keeler, Kayci North and Sean Cornillie, Alison North and Chris Stuber, Megan Hall and Jason Hall, and Jared Brehm; and two great-grandchildren, Cooper Don Hall and Parker Dan Hall.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Martha May; and nine nieces and nephews, Paula Potter, Chris Lucas, Darla Akin, Marsha Miller, Mike May, Gary Suter, Pat Regier, Jack Holbrook, and Lee Kemp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Gladys Lucas; her in-laws, John and Bill May; and her brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Phyllis Lucas. She was also preceded by many family members and close friends.
