Gary Don Scales, age 57 of Eakly, Oklahoma passed away at his home north of Colony on June 14th, 2020. After an 11 month battle with cancer Gary left this earth with his family by his side to be with his Lord and Savior. Born on December 10th, 1962, he was the youngest son of Sharon and Duriel “Duke” Scales.
Both growing up and graduating from Eakly, Gary knew his wife of nearly 39 years since they were in elementary school. On August 21st, 1981 he married her, Kimberly Cope.
They then started their own adventure while Gary attended Oklahoma State University, they had their oldest daughter, JaCee in 1982. Moving closer to home and attending Southwestern Oklahoma State they had their youngest, Toni in 1983. Gary graduated from SWOSU and began the adventure of coaching, teaching, and farming.
He was known for his ornery nature of teasing and laughs and leaves behind a legacy of strength and toughness. Gary was a man that would give the shirt off his back to anyone. His love was for racehorses, sports, and FAMILY. He loved his wife, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren with all of his heart.
Gary Don is survived by his wife Kimberly of the home in Colony, OK, daughter JaCee and son-in law Lee Nurnberg, and their two children Taeler and Paisli of Colony, OK, daughter Toni and son-in law Brian Busby and their two children Charli and Loxli of Cushing, OK, his mother Sharon of Eakly, OK, brother Daryl and sister in law Jeanine of Eakly, OK, father and mother in law, Bobby and Carolyn Cope of Eakly, and brother and sister in law Devery and Trenda Kelly of Eakly as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father Duke, brother Kelly, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
