Graveside service for Ray Hutchison, 74-year-old Thomas resident, will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Mound Valley Cemetery with Alden Preston officiating. Services are under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.

Ray Stanley Hutchison was born in Thomas, Oklahoma on December 18, 1945 to Andrew Frank and Zona Maxine (Preston) Hutchison.

Ray passed away at the age of 74 years and 9 months on September 18, 2020 at his home on the farm where he was raised.

Ray attended Jefferson Rural School until the eighth grade before graduating from Thomas High School in 1964. He attended McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas for two years before being drafted into the United States Army.

On September 19, 1967 Ray married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Kay Taylor at the Church of the Brethren in Thomas, Oklahoma. They were married 53 years and had three children, Marc, Kathy and Andrew.

Ray loved farm life and being outdoors.Following his family hidischarge from the United States Army, Ray and Cheryl lived south of Abilene, Kansas and assisted his cousin, Paul Lehman, on the dairy farm. In 1971,they returned to Thomas where he continued his love of farming by working for Don Herring and McNeil farms. He worked at Weatherford True Value, and then worked at Western Equipment in Weatherford, Oklahoma where he retired in 2012.

After retiring, Ray enjoyed his “hobby farm” where he raised wheat, cattle and enjoyed tinkering with his collection of antique tractors and equipment.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Thomas, Oklahoma; son, Marc A. Hutchison and his wife, Sue of Thomas, Oklahoma; his daughter, Kathy Z. Marsh and her husband, Shawn of Thomas, Oklahoma; his son, Andrew F. Hutchison, II of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Frances McPherson and her husband, Larry of Eudora, Kansas, Dona Johnson and her husband, Ed of Arnold, Nebraska, Ann Ruth Taylor and her husband, Buddy of Wichita, Kansas; a brother-in-law, Dean Holloway of Moundridge, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Gerri Hutchison of Thomas, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandsons; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Zona (Preston) Hutchison; a brother, Warren Henry Hutchison and his wife, Florence Ann; a sister, Mary Ethella (Hutchison) Holloway and a brother, Albert Franklin Hutchison.
