Last week a Weatherford man was sentenced to serve 78 months in federal prison on the conviction of abusive sexual contact of a child in Indian Country, according to a press release by U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Downing, Western District of Oklahoma.

Lending a helping hand

Clinton Mayor David Berrong prepares to lift a couple of pallet jacks into the truck, to begin unloading the food for the “Farmers to Families” event held by Broadway Baptist Church Friday. Clinton firefighters John Denney and Eric Hunter help guide him. Event organizer and church member Susan Farmer said the event was a major success. She said they ended up giving away 20,000 pounds of food.

The five pieces of property which made up the Red Rock Behavioral Center were put up for sale when its Clinton facility was closed. Three of those properties are still on the market, but two of them will very soon become Christ-centered transitional housing for women who are coming out of incarceration.

Thomas man jailed on multiple rape charges

A Thomas man told law enforcement officials he had “a problem,” that he was “in trouble,” and “needed help” before being arrested for rape charges against a 14-year-old girl.

An argument between family members allegedly turned violent, when a Clinton man put a relative in a headlock, before being arrested by Clinton Police.

School receives $743,000 from CARES Act

Clinton Public Schools has been awarded $182,000 in emergency relief funds through the federal CARES Act, in addition to the $561,000 CARES Act supplemental grant it was awarded in May. But there are strict stipulations on how the federal relief dollars are to be spent.
