Hilterbran named state’s top middle school principal

It has been announced by the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA) that Clinton Middle School Principal Kyle Hilterbran has been named the 2020 Middle Level Principal of the Year. In Clinton to announce the award at a CMS assembly this week was William Parker, executive director of the Oklahoma Association of Secondary School Principals (OASSP) and the Oklahoma Middle Level Education Association (OMLEA).

Custer County Conservation District (CCCD) has issued a press release announcing that a bill which recently passed in the House could be the first step to getting the county’s aging dams repaired. There are 121 watersheds in Custer County, and most of them are nearing the end of their estimated 50-year life span.

An Elk City man has been accused of a felony charge of assaulting and/or battery on an emergency technician. Charges were filed Tuesday against Paul David Wyble, 29, after an incident occurring at the Weatherford City Jail.

Arapaho resident Clarence Muno, 83, died early Friday evening when his John Deere mower backed off a drainage ditch and overturned on top of him.

Water tower set to get major face lift

Clinton’s west side high water tower, located just north of I-40 on S. 28 th Street, is going to get a facelift this year thanks to action taken by the city council this week.

Visitation at six prisons was canceled by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections after a group disturbance this week at the Mack Alford Correctional Center in Stringtown.

Referrals are now open for Clinton Public Schools’ Gifted and Talented program and will run through Friday, March 20, said Stephanie Hime, director of elementary curriculum and instruction for Clinton Schools.
