Eagle Scout project sale on Saturday

Clinton Boy Scout Blake Brewer, left, and fellow troop member Xadrian Hernandez put up signage for a yard sale to be held from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the First Mennonite Church, 700 S 19th St. in Clinton. Lots of items have been donated for the fundraiser, and all proceeds will fund Brewer’s Eagle Scout project of building a privacy wall and playground area at the church.

Preparations underway to have city pool ready for mid-June opening

June 1 marks the third and final phase of the governor’s plan to reopen the state’s economy, and City of Clinton Recreation Director Morgan Bonnarens said the public swimming pool at McLain Rogers Park is scheduled to open Tuesday, June 16. But even if the coronavirus cooperates and the state’s reopening goes smoothly, social distancing is still recommended for the foreseeable future.

CPS per pupil spending ranks well

Information on per-student spending is now available for each of Clinton’s five school sites, under a new federal requirement. Until recently, only districtlevel per-student spending was required to be included on states’ annual school report cards.
