
Anthony (Tony) James Smith, age 53, of Clinton, was born on March 2, 1972, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Bill and Mary Halaschak. He peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his home surround-ed
by his loving family. Anthony spent his early years in Gary, Indiana, where he graduated from Gary High School.
He pursued higher education and earned a degree in Computer Science. On August 1, 1998, he married the love of his life, Moneka Smith, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and together they built a beautiful life in Clinton.
A dedicated member of the EDGE Church, Anthony cherished his time spent in fellowship and worship.
Professionally, he was known for his dedication and hard work at Flowers Bakery, where he delivered bread throughout the area. Anthony proudly served his country in the US Airforce, demonstrating unwavering loyalty and patriotism. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Mary Halaschak. He is survived by his beloved wife, Moneka, of their home; daughters, Nickole Anderson and Kayla Nitsche, both of Clinton; sons, William Urbany of Colorado Springs and Kyle Urbany and his wife Ashley of Clinton; sister, Vickie Crnett of Kansas City; brother, Daniel Thews and his wife Rita, Sister in law Ingrid and her husband Tom Williams, brother in law Herbert and wife Annette Watt, with nephews and nieces John, Jason, Derick, Amanda, and Michelle, Teresa (Momo) Davis, Tony’s long time friend, along with numerous other nieces, nephews, friends, and family members who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at EDGE Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2025, with Randy Jones officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
Anthony’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service, and he will be remembered for his kind heart and enduring spirit.
