Funeral services for “Bess” Shephard, 87, of Arapaho will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Freewill Baptist Church.
She died Saturday, May 25, 2019, in the Corn Heritage Village in Weatherford.
Margaret “Bess” (Roush) Shephard was born March 9, 1932, to Russell and Elsie Roush in Vicksburg, Custer County. She was raised in Vicksburg and then attended Arapaho Public Schools. She married George Robert Shephard.
During her life she was full of adventure. She enjoyed raising her children, helping her husband run a dairy, raising chickens, running the Dairy Boy, and working in her vegetable garden. She loved her family, and especially her grandchildren.
Shephard was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Harold Glen and Johnny Mack; and four siblings, Harold Roush and wife Essie, Gene Roush, Peggy Catlett and husband Elton, and Sylvia Thompson and husband Tom.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Randol and husband Mark of Weatherford; eight grandchildren, Heather Johnson and husband Brian of Clinton, Desiree Meacham and husband Russ of Clinton, Valerie Markum and husband Seth of Tuttle, Zach Randol and wife Kim of Weatherford, Josh Randol and wife Robyn of Weatherford, Eric Shephard and wife Rachel of Deer Creek, Jordan Parman and husband Ryan of Hammon, and Allison Webber of North Carolina.
She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The service will be officiated by Pastors Dwight Shephard and Charles Murphy. Burial will conclude at Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
