Funeral services were held for Bob Byrd, 88, lifelong Clinton resident, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2019, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Doyle Kinney and Charles Murphy.
Burial concluded in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Bob R. Byrd was born November 10, 1931, to John Clarence Byrd and Edna Mae (Henley) Byrd in Clinton, OK, and passed away Saturday January 11, 2020, in the Clinton Alliance Emergency Room.
Bob was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army on June 6, 1952, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged as corporal on September 24, 1954, with two bronze stars. He then joined the Army Reserve and spent six years with a total of eight years military service.
He married Angela May Hulett on April 28, 1956, in Clinton where they raised their three children.
He had a 37 year career as a utility lineman with Public Service Company of Oklahoma.
He had served for many years as a deacon and Sunday school teacher at the Broadway Heights Baptist Church; he was a retired Clinton volunteer fireman, a Gideon’s volunteer, and a member of the American Legion Post 41. He enjoyed sporting activities, golfing, playing cards and bowling, and he also enjoyed traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a grandson, R.C. Byrd, and infant great-granddaughter, Finley Grace Ray.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Warnick and husband, Gary, Clinton; Marty Byrd, Coppell, TX, and Brent Byrd and wife Shawna, Medicine Park, OK; sisters-in-law, Jane Ernst, Clinton, and Nettie Seale and husband, Don, Eufaula, OK; and a special friend, Wilma Lantz, Clinton.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Shelby Ray and husband, Gene, Clinton, Garret Warnick and wife Sara, Blanchard, Marci Salzman and husband, Dan, Kansas City, Mo., and Chelsea Willoughby and husband Jakeb, Medicine Park; 10 great-grandchildren, Greer Ray, Hollis Ray and Baby Girl Ray, Mackie Jane Warnick, Tate Warnick, Mia Salzman, Thea Salzman, Jack Salzman, Colt Byrd and Hunter Willoughby.
