
Bobby Gene Hicks Sr. was born June 22, 1948, to Elmore Franklin and Norene (Petty) Hicks in Clinton, Okla. He passed Jan. 8, 2025, at the Clinton Veterans Center. He was on Clinton’s very first football state cham-pion-ship winning team. He attended Cameron University in Lawton for one year, while he was there he attended OCS and came out as a 2nd Lt. He did basic training at Ft. Polk, La., and also did training at Artillery Air Defense at Ft. Sill.
After that he went to Ft. Bliss, Texas, where he was promoted to 1st Lt. and then Captain. He was in Korea from September 1971 to June 1972 when he was honorably discharged in May 1973. Most of his work was in the oil field, he worked for GO International, Western Co. and eventually Baker-Hughes until his health forced him to retire. So many people have said he was a kind and generous gentle giant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Kimberly McCathern.
He is survived by Mary Thomas and Vicki of Wichita Falls Texas; son, David Saxour and wife Jessie; son, Bobby Hicks Jr. and Jessica of Clinton; sisters, Tammy Middleton of Amarillo, Yvonne Gholston and Kathy Shepard both of Clinton; brothers, Franklin of Fort Worth Texas and Tim Hicks of Amarillo; bonus Daughter, Sarah Graybill and husband Tyler; and numerous grandkids and great grandkids.
Services for Bobby Hicks Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church in Clinton.
