Carol Lynne Williams King of Custer City, Oklahoma, was promoted to Heaven on November 11, 2020.
Carol is the youngest of two daughters born to Col. Elijah Sharpe Williams and Aleta Etta VanArsdall Williams. She was born in Louisiana on April 8, 1944, while her father was stationed there during his many years of military service; Carol was very proud to be an “Army brat.”
Her life began a little earlier than expected; she was premature and the doctor told her parents that she would not survive. Her parents, however, decided otherwise and that determination paid off. Carol did live and also developed a strong sense of stubbornness and determination of her own. It was that which saw her through 76 years of life.
In 1963, Carol married a marine, Frank Holley, and they made their home in the Norman, Oklahoma, area. The couple had three children together. Frank became a Norman firefighter and Carol was quite proud to serve on the Ladies Auxiliary. She also served as a Boy Scout den mom, a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader, and a ballet and sports mom.
In 1983, Frank and Carol divorced and Carol moved to Del City, Oklahoma, to be close to her retired parents and her sister. In 1987, Carol married, Rick King, and for several years they continued to make their home in Del City. Together they enjoyed car racing and golf. Later, the couple moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, to be near Rick’s aging parents. In 1993, however, the two divorced and Carol returned to Del City.
In 2011, after her mother’s death, Carol moved to Custer City, Oklahoma, to be near her daughter, Aleta Bowman. Her remaining years were filled with family, friends, church and playing cards on Wednesday with a wonderful group of ladies.
Carol passed from this life on November 11, 2020, after a short illness. It is with much sadness at her passing that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren bid her farewell. Yet, joy abounds in the celebration of her life and the knowledge that they will one day see her again.
Carol is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Cindy Holley of Washington, Oklahoma; son-in-law and daughter, Tony and Aleta Bowman of Custer City, Oklahoma; and youngest son, Jayson Holley of Lawton, Oklahoma. In addition, she is survived by her grandson-in-law and granddaughter, Justin and Toni Ruiz, and their children: Madison, Justin Jr., Jaxon and Jalan, all of Clinton, Oklahoma. Grandson and granddaughter-inlaw, Rick and Kimberly Bowman, and their children: Adam, Wyatt and Elijah, all of Clarksville, Tennessee. Grandson-in-law and granddaughter, Joseph and Brandy Copas, and their son, Jackson, of Washington, Oklahoma. Also granddaughters Dallas and Elizabeth Holley, also of Washington. Also grandson, Ross Holley, of Duncan; granddaughter, J Holley, of Norman; and Jayson Holley Jr., of Lawton.
The family would like to invite all who knew and loved Carol to join them in celebrating of her life. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Custer City on Friday, December 4, 2020, at 2:00 P.M..
