Funeral services for Carolyn Sawatzky, 74, of Bessie will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in the Freewill Baptist Church in Clinton, officiated by Charlie Murphy and Sandy Shepherd. Burial will follow in the Parkersburg Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Carolyn Jane Sawatzky was born August 2, 1945, to Edward J. and Margaret (Willems) Fadenrecht in Stratton, Colo., and passed away early Saturday, January 4, 2020, in the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Carolyn was raised in Joes, Colo., and graduated from Joes High School in 1964. She was employed at the Dairy Queen in Joes. During harvest season she met Roy C. Sawatzky and they were married on February 11, 1966, in Joes, Colo. They made their home in Oklahoma and settled in Bessie.
She was employed at the old Oklahoma General Hospital in housekeeping before beginning a 35-year career with Clinton Public Schools as a dietician.
Carolyn was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flowers and spending time with family, and always enjoyed her coffee time with friends and family and her daily walks.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Rubena.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Roy, of the home; two daughters, Celesta Ensminger and husband Leslie of Davis, and Cynthia Gagne and husband Joe of Clinton; one son, Charles Sawatzky and wife Sandra of Clinton; three sisters, Linda Hoffman and husband Gary, and Viola Sawatzky, both of Clinton, and Lavina Koehn and husband Rick of Enid.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brent Sawatzky, Blake Sawatzky, Joshua Sawatzky, Roy Stucker, Charles Sawatzky Jr., Reagan Gagne and Addyson Gagne; and 11 great-grandchildren, Lexi Sawatzky, Taylor Sawatzky, Anthony Hayes, Aaron Sawatzky, Ty Short, Hunter Short, Macie Sawatzky, Avery Sawatzky, Gray Stucker, Braxtyn Taylor, and one on the way.
