A Mass of Christian Burial for Carrol Hoffman, 89, Clinton resident and Custer County farmer, will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 11, 2021 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Father Balaswamy Mandagiri and burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 10, 2021 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
Carrol John Hoffman was born January 26, 1932 to Leo N. Hoffman and Alice A. (Spitz) Hoffman in Canute, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Weatherford Regional Hospital in Weatherford, OK.
Carrol attended school in Burns Flat and graduated from high school in 1950. He married Francs L. Green on August 30, 1952 in Clinton, OK. In 1984 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Clinton.
A lifetime farmer, Carrol also worked for the Department of Transportation as a sign and road foreman until retirement in 1984. Upon retirement, Carrol farmed and raised cattle, including registered Polled Hereford Cattle.
Carrol was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton.
Carrol loved his family dearly. He enjoyed running coon dogs, hunting quail and fishing with his sons. He also loved a good game of Pollyanna, Progressive Rummy and Skip Bo. He loved and was very involved coaching his children’s T-ball, OK Kids Baseball and Basketball.
Later in life he enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s success with their farm raised prize Polled Hereford Cattle. He loved seeing their success at the local, state and national levels from their hard work. He also was an avid fan of his grandchildren’s baseball, softball, and baseball games.
He enjoyed traveling and taking family trips to their home in Winter Park, Colorado; learning to snow ski at the age of 50 and of course, trout fishing in the summers. His adventures allowed him to make good friends from Illinois, Kansas City, Mayslick, Kentucky and many other cities and states.
Mr. Hoffman has received many awards of which he proudly earned including Honorary Future Farmers of America Chapter Degree, Award of Merit by Custer County Conservation District, and Custer County Beef Breeders Award in 1997 and 2000.
Carrol was preceded in death by a infant son, Michael Carrol Hoffman, his parents, Leo and Alice Hoffman, mother in law, Lena Green, brothers in law, Dr. M.J. Kilhoffer, Clayton Green, Royce Green, Willard Green, Joe Green, Millard Green, Newman Hicks and sister in law, Lawanna Hicks.
Carrol is survived by his wife, of 68 years, Frances, of the home, three sons, Stephen Wayne Hoffman and wife, Lora, Shallowater, TX, Glenn Mark Hoffman, Clovis, CA and Alan John Hoffman and wife, Tricia, Clinton, OK; daughter, Leanne (Hoffman) Masters, Hydro, OK; two brothers, Norbet Hoffman and wife, Judy, Weatherford, OK and Norman Hoffman and wife, Mary, Santa Maria, CA and sister, Loretta Kilhoffer, Dallas, TX.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jennifer Hoffman, Dustyn Hoffman, Bret Hoffman and wife Skylah of Shallow Water TX, Michyla Adams, Adam Hoffman, Cale Hoffman and wife, Kamen, Kristopher Masters and wife, Malinda, Nicole Gallego and husband, Sam, and Kalan Masters; 14 great-grandchildren, Mackenizie Jo, Alexa, Abigail, Peyton, Arnold IV, Cannon, Payton, Presley, Parker, Maddux, Hazel, CJ, Gabriella and Susanna and Rowan on the way; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends as well.
Family and Friends can meet and celebrate the life of Carroll at the White Dog Hill Restaurant at 5:00 P.M., following the graveside service.
