Dorotha Mae Allen, 95, of Clinton, Oklahoma passed away on February 25, 2020, in Clinton.
She was born on November 9, 1924, to E.C. and Etta (Howell) Thurman on the family farm east of Roosevelt, Oklahoma. Dorotha started school in Roosevelt and later attended Lake Valley where she graduated in 1943.
It was war time and Dorotha moved to OKC to get a job. She applied at Douglas Air Craft (now known as Tinker Field). While waiting for hiring she worked downtown OKC at Katz Drugstore and Cafe as a waitress. She was then hired at Douglas as a tool sharpener until the war ended, and her job was no longer needed. She moved back to the family farm in the Lake Valley Community.
In 1946 she married Robert (Bob) M. Allen and to this union was born a son Jimmie Wayne and daughter Shirley Jean. Dorotha worked all her life at various jobs as a bookkeeper for numerous construction companies. She retired in 1984 from Cornell Construction Company in Clinton, Oklahoma and continued to reside there until her death.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Nikki (Allen) Dodd of Gotebo, OK; one great-grandson, Sy Dodd, Gotebo, OK; one greatgranddaughter, Marli Penn, Ada, OK; two nieces: Sandra Lee, Gotebo, OK, and Donna Gibson, Gotebo, OK; sister-in-law, Leola Allen, Mustang, OK; brotherin-law, Eddie Allen, Casa Grande, AZ; and a host of family and friends.
Dorotha is preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Jimmie Wayne, daughter Shirley Jean, granddaughter Mandi Elizabeth, brother Glen Thurman and sister Leta Faye Delk.
Graveside Service: 2:00p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020, at Mountain View Cemetery, Mountain View, OK.
