Eula “Jean” Fortner went to be with her heavenly father on November 3, 2023.
She was born and raised in Custer City, OK on April 28, 1924, to Crystal and Lola (Senior) Fox. The family later bought a farm in Arapaho, OK. her senior year of high school where she graduated. She attended college at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. She married Glen Jones of Custer City, then moved to Tracy, California where he served in the Navy. She worked for the railroad until the birth of her daughters. They later moved to Oklahoma City. She was a housewife raising three daughters for many years, then became employed by B.C. Clark Jewelry Store for twenty years, where she retired.
She had a passion for sewing, cooking, and camping with the family. She was a Sunday School teacher for several years and was involved in other church activities. Later she married Gerald Fortner of Custer City in 1984, then moved to Clinton, OK. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, sister Billie Laminack and Grandson Scott Barker.
She is survived by three daughters, Kayela Barker and husband Terry, Jeanne Lair and husband Eddie, Deanne Pipher, two stepdaughters Pat Ferguson, Judi Christensen and husband Paul, several grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren and nieces and one nephew.
The family wants to thank the staff of Morada Southridge Assisted Living for taking such good care of mom during the past two years she lived there.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, November 13, 2023, in the Masonic Cemetery in Custer, with Doyle Kinney officiating, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
