Fredrick William Boyd passed away of natural causes at the age of 76 in his home located in Caruthersville, Missouri on August 16, 2020.
He was born on April 13, 1944 in Minco, Oklahoma to proud parents Roy Thomas and Iva Ruth Boyd. He graduated from Minco High School in Minco, Oklahoma in 1962.
Fred was Honorably Discharged from the National Guard of and as a Reserve of the Army of the United States in 1962. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1966. He received his Master of Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1972.
Fred worked for the Caruthersville Public School System for 37 years as a teacher, coached numerous sports, and retired in 2008.
He was married to Janice Boyd on April 15, 1967 in Butler, Oklahoma. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Caruthersville, Missouri for 49 years. Fred was a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Thomas and Iva Ruth Boyd of Oklahoma, his parentsin law, Benoni and Gladys Blanchard of Oklahoma, his brother, Tom Boyd of Oklahoma, his sister, Mary Ruth Siller of Oklahoma, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laverne and Glen Millspaugh of Oklahoma, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell and Wilda Blanchard of Oklahoma.
Fred is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Margaret Boyd of Paducah, Kentucky, his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Maria Boyd of Caruthersville, Missouri, his son Bobby Boyd of Portageville, Missouri, his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Janell and Jory Neff of Lorenzo, Texas, his granddaughter, Joshalyn Boyd of Lexington, Kentucky, his grandson, LCPL Matthew Boyd, US Marine Reserves of Lexington, Kentucky, his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Alexus and Val Vela of Caruthersville, Missouri, his granddaughter, PFC Alyssa Boyd, US Army National Guard of Caruthersville, Missouri, 10 nieces, 8 nephews, 11 great nieces, 12 great nephews, and countless great great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held to celebrate his life on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Caruthersville, Missouri at 1:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend.
