Gregory Nieto, 92, of Burkburnett passed away Friday, October 13, 2023.
The family received friends Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Graveside services followed at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Chad Stubblefield officiating.
Gregory was born on April 24, 1931 in Clinton, Oklahoma to the late Pablo and Juanita Nieto. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married Zora Maye McLaughlin on July 2, 1954 in Clinton, Oklahoma, and the couple were married for sixty-nine years until her passing this week. Gregory was a Fire Station Captain at Sheppard Air Force Base for thirty- four years, retiring in 1985. He then worked at Howmet for ten years, until his retirement again in 1996. Gregory was a proud Oklahoman, and first generation Mexican-American. He also worked at the City of Burkburnett. Gregory also enjoyed working on cars. He and Zora were members of First Baptist Church in Burkburnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Zora; brother Paul Nieto; and sisters Mercedes Cabrera and Margaret Benefield.
Gregory is survived by sons Mike Nieto and wife Paula of Waxahachie, and Scott Nieto of Plano; grandson Paul Nieto and wife Meredith of Big Spring; granddaughter Meredith Skaggs and husband Brandon of Big Spring; three great-grandsons, Paxton Skaggs, Harrison Nieto, and Maxwell Nieto; great-granddaughter Everly Skaggs; sister Christina Morgan of Lawton; along with several nieces, and nephews.
