Helen was born January 19, 1930 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Homer Carl Evans and Alpha Omega (Looper) Evans. She passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at The Brentwood Senior Living in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Helen grew up in Clinton, OK and graduated from Clinton High School in 1948. Helen married Jack C. Bailey in 1952 and had two sons Mark and Jeff. Helen’s first job was at the Bus Station in Clinton where she helped make sandwiches for the passengers. She also worked at the picture show in Clinton before becoming a telephone operator. Jack’s Air Force career required many travels for the family including living in Enid, Oklahoma, Harlingen, Texas, Midwest City, Oklahoma and Maryland, Virginia before Jack retired from the Air Force. Upon retiring they made their home for 37 years in Altus, Oklahoma where Helen worked as a teller for 20 years at the First State Bank. Helen and Jack moved to Lawton in 2006 where Helen has lived for the past 18 years. Helen also loved volunteering at Comanche County Memorial Hospital where she received her 10 year pin of appreciation. Helen had a passion for drawing, particularly Disney characters, especially Mickey Mouse! Helen loved to dance and have fun wherever she went. She loved her family and was always the life of the party.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, her parents and a brother, Homer Carl Evans, Jr.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Bailey and wife Tamara of Ruidoso, NM. Jeffrey Bailey and wife Debbi of Lawton, OK, two sisters, Betty Lou Landers of Elk City, OK and Donna Vonne Locke of Thousand Oaks, CA, one brother, Curtis Ray Evans and sister-in-law Kay of Arcadia, CA, four grandchildren, Morgan Laughlin and husband Jay of Edmond, OK, Kevin Bailey and wife Holly of Rosharon, TX, Kirtis Bailey and wife Sonia of Chesapeake, VA and Chase Bailey and wife Lauren of Edmond, OK, twelve great-grandchildren, Jace Laughlin, Logan Laughlin, Jacob Bailey and fiancé Haley Lisbony, Jaylea Laughlin, Zane Bailey, Braelyn Bailey, Ryder Laughlin, Xander Laughlin, Trent Bailey, Preston Bailey, Emerson Bailey, Avery Bailey and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:30 am at Kiesau Lee Funeral Home 2500 W. Modelle Ave, Clinton, Oklahoma 73601 under the care of Kiesau-Lee funeral home.
