A Mass of Christian Burial for John T. Janning, 68, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 25, 2024, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiated by Father Mandagiri Balaswamy.
John’s request was to be cremated and a private burial will be held at Anthon Cemetery arranged by his family and under the direction of the Kiesau Funeral Home. John Thomas Janning was born June 15, 1955, to John Gerhart Janning and Frances Marcella (Reilly) Janning in Clinton, OK and passed away Saturday, January 20, 2024, in Clinton, OK.
John was raised in Clinton, Oklahoma and graduated from Clinton High School in 1973. He was a member of the Red Tornado Football team. He married Chloe Sumpter October 27, 1984. To this marriage two children were born, Promise and John Henry. He was involved in the oilfields most of his adult life and was a certified Mud Engineer. He also was in the construction business on the side and loved woodworking.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church: he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Sunday School Teacher. His father was a scout leader therefore, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America and later himself became a Scout Leader.
He was talented with his woodworking skills and was quite the handyman and often helped family and friends with projects. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and loved to work in his garden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Alice Janning and brother, Edward Janning.
He is survived by a daughter, Promise Chambers and husband, Douglas, Oklahoma City, OK and son John-Henry Janning, Clinton, OK, three sisters, Joyce Schimmel and husband, Ron, Clinton, OK, Linda Ulrick and husband, Frank, Grapevine, TX and Ruth Ann Howell and husband, Gary, Arapaho, OK and brother, Larry Janning, Sherman, TX.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Alvin Ramirez and Katherine Chambers and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
