Funeral services will be held for Lawrance “Larry” Gene Dudgeon, 70, of Lexington at 11 a.m. today at Peace Lutheran Church in Bessie.
He died Thursday, June 6, 2019, at his home.
Dudgeon was born May 26, 1949, to Raymond Emery and Pauline Florence (Dooley) Dudgeon in Carnegie. He grew up in Cordell and graduated from Cordell High School in 1967.
After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
While still in the service Dudgeon married Charlotte Glasgow. Following his military discharge they lived in Moore for a short time before moving to Lindsay in 1974.
Dudgeon started working for York International in 1972. He retired in September 2000 after 28 years of service as a maintenance mechanic.
On Aug. 30, 1996, he married Jody Miller. They lived in Noble for one year before moving to an acreage east of Lexington in 1997. In 1998, Dudgeon went to work for the University of Oklahoma and worked as an electrical technician, mechanical technician and elevator technician. He retired in 2010.
He loved working with his hands, fishing, and being outdoors. His wife, children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
Dudgeon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James (Jim) Allan and Jerry Kenneth Dudgeon; and one sister, Mary Carolyn Forbes.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three children, Jacob Dudgeon and wife Rosa of Lindsay, Chris Dudgeon of Fort Cobb, and Rebecca Dudgeon of Oklahoma City; two step-children, Jason Bryant and wife Amanda of Lexington and Leah Nelson and husband Jeremiah of Norman; five brothers, Terry Dudgeon and wife Frieda of Cordell, Gary Dudgeon and wife Shirley of Corn, John Dudgeon of Bessie, Jeff Dudgeon and wife Deadra of Cordell, and Lee Roy Dudgeon and wife Lisa of Weatherford; four sisters, Viva Clothier and husband Chuck of Clinton, Eneth (Edie) Dudgeon of Childress, Texas, Mavis Cupp of Cordell, and Betsy Ardry and husband Wayne of Oklahoma City.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Aryele Pearson and husband Samuell, Kaygan, Logan, Rocket, James, Maryann, David, Autumn, Jeremy and Pepper; one great grandchild, Daxtyn, and another on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The service will be officiated by Tamarreau Evans.
