Linda Sue Humphrey was born to Joe and Doris Cook on March 25, 1943, in Watonga, Ok. Linda grew up in Woodward, Ok graduating from Woodward High School in 1961.
In 1962 Linda and Gary Paxson joined in marriage. This union brought them two children, Stephen and Kristina .
On January 25, 1975, Linda married Farest Humphrey where they were married for 43 years before Farest passed away.
Linda and Farest had one daughter, Angela. Farest and Linda made their home in Woodward where Linda was a homemaker.
Linda was an amazing cook and made sure there was always plenty of food for everyone’s likes on the table for every meal of the day growing up. She was known to cook for many friends in the neighborhood as everyone was welcome at her table.
Linda was an avid gardener not only at home but at the family’s land where they grew enough vegetables to feed the entire neighborhood.
Her yard was always a sanctuary as she sat under the shade enjoying the fruits of her labor.
Linda’s most amazing talent was sewing and quilting. While raising her children, she made many costumes, outfits and of course all her girls’ Sunday dresses. She continued this into her grandchildren’s lives where she enjoyed most making dresses and fancy coats for her granddaughter. Quilting is what really made Linda thrive! She was a member of the Quilt Guild in Woodward called Friendship Quilters that she helped found with her best friend Carol in 2003. She went on many trips with Carol. They traveled to Houston, Kentucky and went to many classes together to sharpen their craft. Her passion for the arts is very apparent in her quilts. Up until her passing she was looking at quilt books and hoping to start back at quilting one day soon.
Linda was a very social person and loved making friends. She was very active with the sorority Beta Sigma Phi in Woodward. It was here that she made some of her best friends.
Linda and Farest enjoyed traveling after retirement. They traveled all over the United States and Canada, often with their best friends.
