Lynda Sharon (Ringo) Farmer, age 80, a longtime resident and business owner of Clinton, Oklahoma, was born on April 24, 1944, in Stockton, California, to Herschel and Dortha (Smalley) Ringo. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Clarehouse in Tulsa, with her daughter Michele by her side.
Lynda lived and went to school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, before moving to Clinton, Oklahoma, during her junior year in 1960. It was there she met Larry Farmer of Clinton; and together they wed and had two children, Michele and Drew. Lynda was a proud and devoted member of the Broadway Heights Baptist Church in Clinton.
A successful businesswoman, Lynda owned a pawn shop in Tulsa with her son, Drew, before moving to Clinton to help her parents Bethel and Dortha operate Shamburg Sporting Goods. An ardent artist, Lynda loved painting and drawing and she cherished holidays with her family. Additionally, Lynda maintained a booth in the Mulberry Bush alongside her dear friend and partner in crime, Susie Farmer. Occasionally the two would be asked by the owner Cheryl Mc-Cullers to manage the store if she were in need of their assistance. Lynda enjoyed assisting Susie at Chandler’s Flower Shop during the festive seasons.
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents, Hershel Ringo and Dortha (Smalley) Shamburg and Bethel Shamburg, and her son Drew Farmer. She is survived by her daughter Michele and her husband Bobby Chambers of Tulsa, her grandson Dillon Chambers of Tulsa, her aunt Pat (Smalley) Thompson of Franklin, Tennessee, her sister-in-law Susie Farmer of Clinton, her brother-in-law Rick Farmer and his wife Lela of Hydro, and a multitude of Smalley cousins as well as her nieces and her nephew, Krystal, Amber, Landon, Shae, Kelcey, Heather, and Kiley of Clinton.
A memorial service for Lynda will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Broadway Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Robert White officiating. Under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home, her cremains will be buried next to her son Drew in the Clinton Cemetery.
Lydna’s legacy of love, artistry, and dedication to her family and community will always be remembered and cherished by all who knew her and she will be deeply missed.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Clarehouse for their compassionate care and heartfelt services provided to Lynda and family. The care and services by the Clarehouse are immeasurable and difficult to adequately convey through words.
In lieu of flowers her daughter requests that donations be made to the Clarehouse in Tulsa in honor of her mother Lynda Farmer.
