Funeral services for Nicky Smith, 67, of Arapaho, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel.
He died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019.
Smith was born Oct. 28, 1951, to Victor and Tillie Smith in Clinton, where he also graduated from Clinton High School.
He married Judy Robinson on Nov. 26, 1969.
Smith worked as a mechanic for several years and as a parts man at Moser Auto before going to work for the town of Arapaho. He was the chief of police for 15 years, and also worked for the Arapaho Fire Department for 20 years. He was the AFD assistant chief for three years before retiring. He had also held the position of town civil defense director in Arapaho, and served in other positions as well.
Smith was a state certified law enforcement driving instructor.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nicky Jr. and Jeramey McClure and wife Sara; a granddaughter, Abby Downs and husband Brent; two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Tatum; and a brother, Rocky Smith of Albany, Ind.
The service will be officiated by Wendall Folsom and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Arapaho Cemetery.
