Funeral services for Ofelia Rae Galvan, 29, of Houston, Texas, and formerly of Weatherford, will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Indian Baptist Church in Weatherford.
She died Sunday, June 30, 2019, in the Memorial Hermann Great Heights Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Ofelia Rae Galvan was born Aug. 21, 1989, to Ronald and Karen Sue (Yellow Eagle) Galvan in Austin, Texas. She later moved with her parents to Houston, where she attended school. She also attended school in Weatherford, and at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she worked on a degree in forensic science. She had lately been living in Houston while continuing her education.
Galvan was a proud member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, a member of the Native American Church, and she participated in ceremonial meetings. She also loved to shop.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Rufus and Sarah Yellow Eagle; and her maternal grandmother, Ofelia Galvan.
Survivors include her daughter, Nina Sue Keeto of Houston, Texas; her parents, sister Cheyenne Galvan, and a brother, Ronald Galvan II, all of El Reno; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
The service will be officiated by Rev. Waylon Upchego and Rev. Tommy Neely. Burial will conclude at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
