Peggy Jean Masengale Mannschreck was born October 2, 1939 in Hanna, OK to Melvin Otis and Alice (Spear) Masengale.
She moved to Dustin, OK and attended elementary and high school. She married Paul Enoch Wolf and was blessed with 3 children, Paula, Peggy Ann and Richard. She married Paul D Bates in 1963 and had one son, Paul (Skipper).
Peggy worked at the Anadarko Hospital and for Dr Paul Taylor for many years before moving to Hawaii in 1983 and then to California. She returned to Anadarko in 1992 where she worked for the Jim Taliaferro Clinic until her retirement in 2006.
After retirement she had the opportunity to travel and some of her fondest memories were in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado, attending the Calgary Stampede, on to Alaska, seeing the Rose Bowl Parade followed by an OSU victory in San Diego, CA.
Peggy loved the Los Angeles Dodgers and kept up with how they were playing until the very end. She also spent many hours attending various Anadarko and Fort Cobb sporting events and supported grandchildren and friends through the years. She also gifted her family and many friends with Santas, Snowmen and Christmas ornaments that she spent many hours lovingly making. Most recently she found great pleasure sewing Christmas ornaments for her great grandchildren and other special children in her life. She was famous for her homemade pies, which she made for family reunions and holiday gatherings. She loved to make and share dozens of fruitcake cookies during the Christmas holidays and share new recipes at the annual Masengale Family Reunion.
Peggy was an active member of the Fort Cobb Methodist Church, UMW, member of the Fort Cobb Flower Club, and the Anadarko XI Gamma Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
