Our beloved grandpa, father, and husband, Raymond “Rick” E. White, passed away with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side on October 6th, 2020 at the age of 73. Rick is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Caroline Plummer, daughter Jamie White Ortega, grandson Sammy, son-in-law Tony Ortega, nephews Tony Schapansky, Billy Plummer, George Plummer Jr., Tommy Yelloweagle and sons, great nephew Chazz Schapansky and wife Isabel Schapansky, and great niece Chloee Thomas and husband Ameer Thomas.
He was predeceased by his mother Betty Davis and his in-laws, William and Grace Plummer.
Rick was born in Dodge City, KS. He resided in Woodward and Clinton, OK the majority of his life. Rick adored and was so proud and happy to have his Grandson Sammy. Rick loved hunting deer and turkey. He won numerous marksmanship trophies in hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. Rick was a remarkable artist and had his associate’s degree in art. Rick graduated Greensburg High School in KS, class of 1964. He attended college after high school, then shortly after joined the United States Army to faithfully serve his country. Rick served two tours in Vietnam as an aerial gunner on the Chinook helicopter.
After being honorably discharged, Rick continued to pursue his education and graduated with a degree in Gunsmithing Technology as well as a bachelor’s in Education. Rick worked as a welder, gunsmith, custom knife maker, and an art teacher. Rick touched the lives of many. He was a brave and honest man that would always tell you like it is. Under his tough exterior, he had a heart of gold. He was a great teacher and leader to many. We will remember Rick by his funny and very sarcastic sense of humor, his caring heart, and his love for his family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at the Woodward Church of Christ. A veteran’s burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery 2755 Downs Ave., Woodward, OK 73801. Flowers may be sent to Pierce Funeral Home in Canton, OK.
