Robert “Bob” Earl Jones, a cherished Weatherford resident, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Born on October 27, 1947, in Southgate, California, to Ernest and Margarie (Jaynes) Jones, Bob lived a life rich in artistry, adventure, and deep connections.

Raised in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, Bob graduated from high school in 1965 before pursuing his passion for art at the California State College, where he earned a degree in Art. His journey led him to embrace diverse roles and ventures, from running several successful security companies in Dallas/Ft. Worth and Oklahoma City to owning a variety of retail businesses, including a T-shirt shop, women’s clothing store, and accessories shop. Bob’s entrepreneurial spirit also extended to Frontier City amusement park, where he managed Land Rush Photography.

An avid member of Mill Creek Four Square Gospel Church in Mill Creek, Washington, Bob’s community involvement was further reflected in his membership with the Everett Lion’s Club.

He was a man who wore many hats—each one painted with the hues of his varied interests and talents. Bob’s love for art was boundless. He had a deep appreciation for drawing, painting, and classic black-and-white films from the 40s and 50s. His enthusiasm for the cinematic world was so profound that he even taught a class on classic movies, sharing his passion with others.

On November 4, 2023, Bob married his lifelong best friend, Carol Karlin, in Mill Creek, Washington. Though their marriage was brief, it was a testament to a love that had been flourishing for 45 years. Their time together was described as a “fairy tale,” filled with joy and shared dreams.

Bob and Carol’s union brought him to Oklahoma, where they continued to build a life full of love and companionship.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carol, and his beloved children: Christian Jones and Ian Jones of Everett, WA; Rob Jones of Colorado Springs, CO; and Robyn Taylor of Oklahoma City. He was also a proud grandfather to Cattie-Brie Wilcox of Weatherford.

A funeral service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the First Nazarene Church of Clinton, with Eddie Stark officiating. The service will be conducted under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home in Clinton.

Bob Jones was a man of extraordinary depth and charm—a husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the passions he pursued. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
