Graveside Services for Mr. Roger D. Vice, age 70, longtime resident of Ada, Oklahoma will begin at 2:00pm Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Fairlawn Cemetery located on Highway 81 in Chickasha, Oklahoma with the Minister Doyle Kinney officiating.
The Vice Family will host a public visitation honoring Roger from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Tribute Memorial Care, 708 24th Avenue NW #300, Norman, Oklahoma.
Roger Dale Vice was born on Saturday, March 11, 1950 in Chickasha, Oklahoma the son of G.D. and Lois (Beaver) Vice. He passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the Mercy Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma.
Roger was raised and attended school in Chickasha, graduating from Chickasha High School on Tuesday, May 28, 1968. He later enrolled and was attending the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma before being ordered to active duty to serve in the Vietnam War. Roger answered the call to serve his country and enlisted into the United States Navy on November 13, 1969.
He served on the USS Cacapon and was honorably discharged on November 4, 1974. Roger was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation.
After returning home from the war, Roger was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone in Clinton, Oklahoma and Hughes Tool Company. While at Hughes Tool Company Roger was the recipient of ‘The Mark of Integrity’ award for outstanding leadership in the Central United States Region.
Roger later returned to college completing his Bachelor of Arts degree from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma on August 1, 1991. He then began a long career as a counselor with the Department of Human Services with the State of Oklahoma. He retired in 2007.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman enjoying deer hunting and fishing. He shared a special and close relationship with Jesus and was looking forward to being ushered into the presence of God and his loved ones.
He is survived by his brother, Tommy Vice and his wife, Barbara of Moore, OK; two nephews, Shane Vice and his wife, Deedra of Norman, OK; Chad Vice and his wife, Jennifer of Norman, OK; two great-nephews, Dalton Vice of Spring, Texas; Brant Vice of Norman, OK; two great-nieces, Kennedy Vice of Norman; and Hadley Vice of Norman; three Aunts, Jewel Jantz of Chickasha, OK; Joyce (Vice) Tarr of Tyler, TX; and Shirley (Vice) Lippincott and her husband, Marlin of Rowlett, TX; and a host of cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Vice on March 22, 1994 and his father, G.D. Vice on December 27, 2009 and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements for Roger and his family were placed in the care of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton, Oklahoma.
