Ronald “Ronnie” J. Fergason, a cherished lifetime resident of Custer City, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, in Oklahoma City at the age of 78. Born on March 6, 1946, to Ollie Herbert and Louise (Tudor) Fergason, Ronnie was a true embodiment of Custer City spirit.

A proud graduate of Custer City High School, class of 1964, Ronnie dedicated much of his life to serving his community. He was a devoted member of the Custer City First Christian Church, where he contributed to the sound system every Sunday. Ronnie also retired as the Water Superintendent for the City of Custer City after many years of service and enjoyed a second career operating a Putt Putt car on the railroad from Kingfisher to the Texas state line.

Ronnie was actively involved with the Custer City Fire Department and was a respected member of the Custer City/ Thomas Masonic Lodge. For years, he lovingly maintained the Custer City Masonic Cemetery, often recalling the location of each plot from memory. A passionate patriot, Ronnie took great pride in his country and the American flag.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and was always eager to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marguerite Lidia, and his daughter Traci Collier. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends, all of whom he considered family.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Custer City First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney, and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home. A reception in Ronnie’s honor will take place on Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Custer City Senior Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Custer City Senior Center, located at 323 South 8th Street, Custer City, Oklahoma 73639. Ronnie’s legacy of kindness and community service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
