
Funeral services for Shirl (Butch) Ray Landrum, 76 yearold Weatherford resident, will be held Friday, December 6, 2024, 10:00 A.M. in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home with Allen Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Anthon Cemetery, north of Arapaho, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home.
Butch was born May 10, 1948, in Silver City, New Mexico, to Melvin and Jewel (Martin) Landrum and passed away December 1, 2024, at Weatherford Regional Hospital, at the age of 76.
Butch was raised in Bayard, New Mexico and later graduated from Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1966, he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving 26 years in aircraft maintenance on B52’s and C130’s. In the Air Force, he was stationed at Amarillo AFB, Amarillo, TX; Clinton – Sherman AFB, Burns Flat, OK; Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM; Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ; Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, TX; and Portland Air National Guard Base in Portland, OR. Butch also served numerous tours in Vietnam, South Korea, and England. He retired from the Air Force in 1992 as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement from the Airforce, he worked for the US Postal Service.
While stationed at Clinton - Sherman AFB in Burns Flat, OK, he met and married Margaret Klein on February 9, 1974. They shared a joyous life together. In 2013, he and Margaret moved to Weatherford. Butch enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and fishing. Butch will always be remembered for having a quick wit and a smile on his face.
Butch is survived by his wife, Margaret Landrum, of the home; Sister, Sharon Benjamin, Deming, NM; two brothers, Robert Landrum, Avondale, AZ and John and wife, Renee Landrum, Las Cruces, NM; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Jewel Landrum and two brothers, Martin Gibbs and Richard Landrum.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation.
