Parent worries about daughter’s iPad

DEAR HARRIETTE: I fear that I may have raised an “iPad child.” My daughter is 4 years old, and for over a year now, she’s been glued to her iPad. It started out as a way to keep her entertained while I handled other tasks around the house. As a parent, sometimes I just need a moment of quiet, and the iPad seemed like an easy, harmless way to get that time. But now it’s gotten to the point where the iPad seems to be her constant companion.

2024 campaign rolls with the changes

We don’t know the winner – the prudent won’t guess, many of the imprudent will be wrong – but already we know that the 2024 election will mark a significant departure in American history. New mom struggles with isolation

DEAR HARRIETTE: As a new mom to my precious 3-month-old, I’m experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, from joy to an overwhelming sense of isolation and loneliness. It feels like my friends have drifted away, caught up in their own busy lives, leaving me feeling disconnected.

Daughter desperate to donate kidney

DEAR HARRIETTE: I’m in a really tough situation with my mom, who has been going through so much lately. She’s on dialysis for six hours four times a week, and she has been waiting for a kidney donor for almost a year now. I just returned from Brazil and found out that I’m a match, and I’m willing to donate my kidney to her. My mom is refusing to accept it and doesn’t want me to go through with the transplant.

Dear Doctors: We live in New Hampshire, and people are worried about Eastern equine encephalitis. There have been several cases, and someone has died. I’ve lived here all my life, and this disease is new to me. Can you please share what is known?
