Thousands of empty rail cars stored on Farmrail tracks

The long rows of empty rail cars lined up near Farmrail’s office on Gary Boulevard are stark evidence of the downturn in the oil industry. Custer County Election Board Secretary Ann Brown said Friday, June 5, 2020, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the June 30, Primary Election, Special City of Weatherford Election, Special City of Thomas Election, Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center Election, and Hammon School Election, Custer County Secretary.

Clinton’s Mission House has been helping the community’s most vulnerable for more than 30 years, and during the COVID-19 pandemic it has continued to serve three meals a day, seven days a week, out of its dining room. These days those meals are served in togo boxes instead of at communal tables, but in spite of rising food prices no one has gone hungry, said director Jennifer Howard.

Estrada uses new job to find homes for animals

Clinton Police Department has appointed a new full-time ACO (animal control officer). Heather Estrada is already well-known for her animal rescue work in Clinton since 2015, so being the ACO gives her a solid base from which to continue improving the plight of stray and unwanted dogs here.

Due to CDC recommendations, public Memorial Day services at the Clinton Cemetery have been cancelled. However, American Legion Post 41 members are placing flags at various local cemeteries to honor veterans.
