Distance learning for Clinton commences

The finishing touches are being made to the VA outpatient clinic, under construction in Clinton since last year. But because of the pandemic it won’t be opening its door anytime soon, said Oklahoma City VA Public Affairs Officer Amy Umhoefer.

Filing period for four county and several state offices including the Oklahoma House of Representatives District 57 seat that serves this area, is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Dragging down ‘Main Street’

Clinton residents were able to get out of the house, while still maintaining proper social distancing Friday night, dragging their cars down Frisco Avenue. Daniel Ashcraft organized the event, according to the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. It’s planned to go down again this Friday.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Oklahoma Tax Commission are allowing 90-day filing extensions, allowing concerned tax preparers and taxpayers to breathe a sigh of relief. But Edmond CPA Joshua Jenson said while the deadline has moved, it’s still imperative taxpayers be mindful if they owe.
